AND THE WALLS

Harlot on the water
with her string of unclean kings,
in purple, gold, and scarlet,
her fingers drip with rings.
She sits on many waters.
Her throne's a churning flood.
Precious stones and jewelry
and lipstick red as blood.
And the walls come tumbling down.

She rides a scarlet beast
Whose brands are blasphemies
She raises up a golden cup
of immoralities.
She welcomes daily cargoes
of linen, gold, and wheat
of iron and oF cinnamon
of spice, perfume, and sheep
And the walls come tumbling down

She's a mother to the demons,
a nurse for hateful birds,
the unclean spirits' sister,
and the source of mocking words.
Her sins climb high as heaven
her every guest she taints.
She drinks and she drunkens other
with blood drawn from the saints
And the walls came tumbling down.

Now her city lights are darkened
her musicians make no sound.
Her gold and silver stripped away,
and her craftsmen can't be found.
The sailors in her harbor watch
as her smoke blots out the sky
Her sorceries converted
to a wailing, mournful cry.

BARNABAS

Self-appointed prophets
point their fingers and scold.
On the sidelines criticizing
repeating what they've been sold.
Memorizing, then sermonizing,
spiritual veneer.
Jacob's Ladder, its bottom step,
blind children playing seer.

REFRAIN
The tongue of the wise brings healing.
The tongue of the wise brings health

Finding fault, the shortest route
to reach the mountain's peak.
Looking down on others
with everything they speak.
Truth become a venom
in confused and childish minds.

He saw the best in others
spoke words that spirits raised.
The question and accused,
He supported, loved, and praised.
Barnabas opening doors
for John Mark and Paul.
Jacob's Ladder, higher rungs
his spirit climbed so tall.

Barnabas

Barnabas is a musical recommendation that we remember and live in the way Paul urged those who followed Cephas, or Apollos, or Peter to have a charitable Mere Christianity type spirit towards one another.

BARZILLAI

When my men and I thirsted and hungered,
you brought honey and cheese,
lentils and sheep and grain
to meet all our needs.

Now come live in my palace
and taste every good thing
In comfort and laughter
as my young servants sing.

I can't taste food or drink.
Eightscore are my years
The songs of young singers
can't reach my deaf ears.

Take my man Zilman
pour on him your reward.
Let him taste the pleasures
Of your kingdom restored.

There's breath in my body
but pleasures are gone.
My life is for others
in the years I live on.

I'll go back to the land
where I always have stayed.
Till I go with my fathers
and with them I'm laid.

BEFORE THE FOUNDATION

Foundation not yet laid
you and I were on God's Heart.
Destined to be made
each of us assigned a part
to play – someday.

The world, well it came to be
And seasons just rolled on by
Until the time arrived
for creating you and I
to play – our part.

Sometimes we get accused
for doing what comes naturally
Don't get confused
What you're made to be
Before - the foundation was laid
God made us each unique
and through His gift of Calvary
we can turn from sin and seek
what it was we were made to be
before – the foundation was laid.

CANDLE

My life is like a candle
Burning brightly in the night
Set out in the open
To offer others light

CHORUS 1
Some in the darkness stumble
who long to live in light.
Been left here for the guidance
of any who'd choose sight.

CHORUS 2
See the candle growing shorter,
Growing shorter every day.
The flame will last forever
though the wax will melt away.

My life is like a candle
protected from the wind.
I'll shine through storms and darkness
with a light that never ends.

CHORUS 1

CHORUS 2

One of these days you'll miss me
Though I'll be glowing on.
You'll look around to see me,
but by then I'll be gone.

CHORUS 1

CHORUS 2

Candle

CELEBRATE THE VILE

Woe to those who claim evil's good,
who claim what's dark is light,
who pass the bitter off as sweet,
who claim what's wrong is right.
Woe to those who who call good evil,
who say that day is night
who claim what's sweet is bitter,
that righteousness ain't right.

A curse on lying spirits
for whom mankind is meat.
Who'd terminate a growing life
and call that freedom sweet
A curse on lying spirits
who claim that evil's good,
Who dress a bloody doctor up
in clothes like Robin Hood.

A curse on unclean spirits
outside and inside skin
who celebrate the vile
who sanctify what's sin.
A curse on lying spirits
who mince across the news,
and jeer at standards God has set
that contradict their views.

CLOUDRIDER Ps 68

Cloudrider, Cloudrider, Cloudrider, Cloudrider

To Him who rides
the ancient skies,
To the Bringer
of the Rain
To the Shaker of
all the Earth below
To the Giver
of the Grain
To Him who leads
all the chariots
with the captives
in his train.

To the Wind
Who scatters smoke
and every
heathen king.
We offer You
all our shouts and songs
to the front are
those who sing
behind are pipes
and trumpet players
then our tambourines
then our strings

CRUISING WITH JOHN

~ The World ~
Apostle John in my driveway
"Get inside the truck,
let's get away."
Passing by the entrance
to the new freeway
I said to him "Let's go this way"
John shook his finger,
then he said "No.
The narrow road 's
where we gotta go!

CHORUS
The world, the flesh, the devil
they're setting traps for you.
Gotta travel by the narrow road
that's what you gotta do
Don't you look to the left,
and don't you look to the right
And don't you get stupid and pull over at night.

~ The Flesh ~
Standing at the corner
in her skin-tight jeans.
Cars are backed up
though the light's turned green.
My heart's a pounding
and my eyes open wide
I'm wondering out loud
if she needs a ride.
John shook his finger,
and then he said "No,
Turn away from your flesh
cause it's time to go."

~ The Devil ~
Driving in circles,
going around and around
Losing any hope
that we'd ever get found.
Seems like we'd driven
into somebody's trap,
I was navigatin',
but without any map.
John shook his finger,
and then he said "No.
Keep that holy map open
wherever you go!

FIREFLIES

Fireflies whirl around us
with bright but heatless light.
Lamps inside the darkness,
but the spirit isn't right.

Going through the motions,
but it doesn't mean a thing.
The pews are full of fireflies
who listen, give, and sing.

CHORUS
You've lost your first love.
You've lost your first love.
You've lost your first love.
You've lost your first love

Going through the motions,
but it doesn't mean a thing.
The pews are full of fireflies
who listen, give, and sing.

Worship should be flowing
from spirit and from truth.
He sees what's counterfeit;
And He knows a substitute.
Fireflies whirl around us
with bright but heatless light.
Transform their glowing cold
so it's warm as well as bright

FOR THE JOY

Heb 12:2

VERSE 1
[G]For the joy set [D]before [Am]you,
[C]you endured the [G]cross.
[G]For the ones you [D]lov... [Am]ed.
[C]You accepted the [G]cost.

VERSE 2
[G]For the joy set [D]before [Am]you,
[C]while despising the [G]shame.
[G]You picked up that [D]cro-[Am]ss
[C] with its weight and its [G]pain.

CHORUS
[C]You endured the [D]cross,
[C]while despising its [D]shame.
[C]And now you've been [D]seated
[C]at the right hand of [D]God
[C]with a name above every [D]name. [G]

VERSE 3
[G]You're the joy set [D]before [Am]you,
[C] We fix our eyes on [G]You.
[G]You're the joy set before [D]us- [Am]ss
[C]We fix our hearts on [G]you.

CHORUS

GAMBLERS AND GANGSTERS

VERSE 1
[E]Gamblers and gangsters
are [A]easy tags to use,
but there's [D]more to man than labels
that [E]other people choose.
[E]Pioneers and heroes
born [A]wrong in time and space.
A [D]nother time, a different land,
[E]perhaps a different case. [C] [Bm] [E]

VERSE 2
[E]Gamblers and gangsters
so [A]wild in their ways
[D]have a kind of recklessness
that we [E]can't help but praise.
The gambling in each action
to [A]faith it's almost kin.
[D]That it's placed in luck, not God,
is [E]most of why it's sin. [C] [Bm] [E]

CHORUS
[A]Won't you try the difference?
[E]Won't you embrace change?
[A]Head out to the last frontier,
that [E]final open range.
Ride the [A]praries of the Spirit,
sail [E]oceans made of love.
Wander [A]down the sidestreets
of [E]Jerusalem above. [C] [B] [E]

VERSE 3
[E]Most of life's real villains
are the [A]lusts inside us all.
[D]Power of God can change a man
like it [E]did the Apostle Paul.
[E]Harvest fields are crying
for [A]men who'll risk it all.
[D]Pray their ears will open
and they'll [E]hear the Spirit call. [C] [B] [E]

Gamblers And Gangsters

A video about how the Kingdom of God welcomes baptized "toxic masculinity", i.e., men of action willing to risk everything for the world turning into men willing to risk everything for Christ.

CHORUS
[A]Won't you try the difference?
[E]Won't you embrace change?
[A]Head out to the last frontier,
that [E]final open range.
Ride the [A]praries of the Spirit,
sail [E]oceans made of love.
Wander [A]down the sidestreets
of [E]Jerusalem above. [C] [B] [E]

GOODBYE TO BABYLON

CHORUS
Children of Zion say,
Goodbye to Babylon.
Children of Zion say,
Goodbye to Babylon,

Look all around you will see
Wickedness, idolatry
Look all around you will see
Wickedness, idolatry

CHORUS

Live in the land of wickedness
Long for the land of righteousness
Live in the land of wickedness
Long for the land of righteousness

CHORUS

We are on an Exodus
Together in this wilderness
We are on an Exodus
Together in this wilderness

CHORUS
Spirit, guide us through this starless night
To that city where the Lamb is the light.
Spirit, guide us through this starless night
To that city where the Lamb is the light.

GOSPEL JUKEBOX

My doctor told me, boy,
you don't need no pills.
Doctor told me, boy,
you don't need no pills.
Take a handful of quarters,
let the jukebox cure your ills.

I went down to the diner,
and I took me a counter seat.
Down to the diner,
and I took me a counter seat.
Well I stacked my quarters,
and I ordered something to eat.
he guy on my left
he was wearin' this heartbroke frown.
Guy on my left
he was wearin' this heartbroke frown.

You'd hadda scrape the floor
to find somebody that far down.

CHORUS
So I grabbed me a quarter,
and I fed that jukebox a coin.So I grabbed me a quarter,
and I fed that jukebox a coin.
About 2 seconds later
the music had the joint a goin '.

The guy on my right
he was sportin' a straight flush sneer.
The guy on my right
he was sportin' a straight flush sneer.
Hard as a hammer,
wouldn't nothing tear loose a tear.

Well, what I'm saying
is maybe to skip those pills.
What I'm saying
is maybe to skip those pills.
Take a handful of quarters ,
let the jukebox' cure your ills.

HANGING JUDGE

He's a hanging Judge
No mistake about it,
He's a hanging Judge,
Ain't no doubt about, it
Hes a hanging Judge
t's easy to confirm now
He's a hanging Judge
His Son will set you straight now.
Does He search for all the facts?
Not a one He misses.
Do I have a chance at mercy?
If you ask the right way.
Does He look at circumstances?
Only one's important.
Do I even stand a chance?
Depends on who you trust now.

CHORUS

Is there any way to buy Him?
He's the one who's buying.
Is there any one He cares for?
He's the only one who's caring.
Is there any way to sway Him?
Ask His Son to save you.
Is there any thing that scares Him?
He's the one who's scarey.
He's a hanging Judge
No mistake about it,
He's a hanging Judge,
Ain't no doubt about it,
Hes a hanging Judge
t's easy to confirm now
He's a hanging Judge
His Son will set you straight now.

IN THE AGES TO COME

Absent from the body,
then you're present with the Lord.
Doubt I'm speaking gospel?
It's right there in His Word.
When the silver cord is broken
and the golden bowl is crushed.
With the wings of love and mercy
you will feel your face be brushed.

CHORUS
In the ages to come
Every tongue and race
will thank Him for His grace
In the ages to come
Every breath will be a song
that lasts forever long.

A river, clear as crystal,
flowing from His throne.
Through a city filled with singing,
With walls of jasper stone.
Candles, lamps, and torches
no longer have a place.
In a city lit forever
by the splendor of God's face.

LET US BE YOUR REMNANT [F]

VERSE 1 - IDOLATRY
[F]Let us harness bulls to idols,
drag those [C]idols to the ground.
Let us [Gm]burn our profane [Bb]altars
[Dm]whenever they are [Fmaj7]found.
Lord, [F]keep us from that first step
that [C]starts that cycle down,
Away [Gm]from snares of [Bb]phony gods
[Dm]Keep our feet on holy [Fmaj7]ground.

VERSE 2 - BONDAGE
But if [F]our wayward eyes and hearts
Lead us [C]from you, Lord of Lords,
And we [Gm]find ourselves in [Bb]bondage
[Dm]Beneath sin's chains and [Fmaj7]swords.
Let us [F]cry out with repentance;
Let us [C]turn from harlotry;
Let us [Gm]burn our Ashte- [Bb]roths and Baals
[Dm]Whatever they may [Fmaj7] be.

CHORUS (CHORUS in G; Verses in F)
[G]Let us be Your Remnant.
[Fmaj7]Your faithful, few but bold
[Cmaj7/E]Daily [Em7#5]drawing in [C]oth-[Cmaj7]ers
[Fmaj7]To magnify Your Fold.
[G]Independent of judges
[Fmaj7/E]that for your sheep You send.
[Cmaj7/E]Keep us [Em7#5]looking unto [C]Jesus,
[Fmaj7]Our Beginning and our End.

VERSE 3 - DELIVERANCE
Though [F]blinded by our folly
And in [C]Dagon's temple bound.
Return to [Gm]us the [Bb]strength we need
[Dm]To pull [Fmaj7]that temple down.
While [F]seizing Jael's tent peg
We pin [C]our sin to the ground.
Let us [Gm]raise our [Bb]hidden torches
[Dm]As we let our [Fmaj7]trumpets sound.

VERSE 4 - DEVOTION
In the [F]midst of rusting chariots
Let us [C]sing out Deborah's song
How the [Gm]army of the [Bb]stars of God
[Dm]Took down the [Fmaj7]proud, the strong.
Let [F]everyone who loves your name
Shine [C]out like full-strength sun
And [Gm]testify through [B]years of rest,
[Dm]The Lord our God [Fmaj7]is One!

CHORUS

LOVE NEVER FAILS

Though the kindling may resist the spark
And the gunshot can miss its mark
The best laid plans, they go astray
One thing's eternal, won't fade away

Love never fails
Love never fails

Promises seems made to break
And friendship ain't that hard to fake.
The open doors will soon shut tight.
As the Darkness feeds on the bones of light

Love never fails
Love never fails

Love ain't a warm fuzzy feel
Ain't hearts and flowers or sex appeal,
It ain't streamlined; t ain't sleek
Peacemaking soul
has a black and blue cheek

Love never fails
Love never fails

NO HEALTH IN MY BODY Psalm 38

No health in my body
because of your wrath
Your arrows have pierced me
when I left your path.

Because of my folly,
wounds fester and flow,
I'm feeble and crushed
I'm bowed and brought low.

My back is on fire
too painful to bear,
And no one to comfort
there's no one who cares.

No health in my body
I'm confessing my sin.
O, Lord, don't you leave me
in this state that I'm in.

QUIET HEART

[E]You'll [Esus]never [E]know [Esus]victory
[Fdim]till you've learned to retreat
[F#m]You'll never stand on your own,
[B]till you get off of your [B7]feet. [B6]
[E]You've got [Esus]to search
[E]for a quiet heart.
[Fdim]You've got to listen for
a quiet heart.
[F#m]You've got to wait for
a quiet heart.
[B]You've got to hunger for
a quiet [B7]heart. [B6]

A sea of noise surrounding us all.
The breakers curl and then they fall
The drown out silence, drown out our peace.
It seems the roaring won't ever cease.
You've got to search for
a quiet heart.
You've got to listen for
a quiet heart.
You've got to wait for
a quiet heart.
You've got to hunger for
a quiet heart.

In silent shadow of His wings
listen closely, a soft voice sings
It's a voice past fretting, past worry and fear.
It could even be your voice that you hear.
You've got to search for
a quiet heart.
You've got to listen for
a quiet heart.
You've got to wait for
a quiet heart.
You've got to hunger for
a quiet heart.

SAFETY IN HIM

Sometimes it's frightening
when we stop to think
how little we are
how little we are.
Take for instance
the great distance
to the next star.
sn't it far?!
But more than the miles
it's the weakness in trials
that says we're like grass
whose flower must pass.

Human relations
have complications
beyond our control
they take their toll.
Like lovers we trust in
Suddenly busting
All of our hopes
gone up in smoke.
And children now playing,
well, later on straying
from a good start,
breaking our heart.

First they're agile,
but later so fragile
these bodies we use,
they break and they bruise.
Like a closed curtain,
their futures uncertain.
But one thing is sure
safe and secure.
Jesus is risen,
won't you listen!
There's safety in Him.
There's safety in Him.

SERPENT OF BRONZE

John 3:14

[Am7]Face down in the garden,
You accepted the cup.
[Dm7]Face down in the garden,
[Dm]You accepted the [Am]cup.
[F]This poisoned world healed
[E]With you lifted [Am]up.

[Am7]You stood before Pilate,
not proud or untamed.
[Dm7]You stood before Pilate,
not proud or [Am7]untamed.
[F]Your love made you gentle,
[E]and Your faith made you [Am7]brave.

[Am7]Like the serpent of bronze
you were held up on high.
[Dm7]Like the serpent of bronze,
you were held up on [Am7]high.
[F]Before you could heal us
[E]You first had to [Am7]die.

[Am7]You watered dead earth
with the blood from your veins.
[Dm7]You watered dead earth
with the blood from your [Am7]veins.
[F]We are the harvest
[E]of your sorrow and [Am7]pain.

STEEL CEILING

Sometimes when I pray
there's not any feeling.
There's time when I pray
and I'm missing, I'm missing
any feeling.
When I lift up my words
they bounce off
a steel ceiling...
a steel ceiling.

There's time when I listen
for the sound of your voice.
There's time when I listen
for the sound of your voice.
But heaven is silent
I just hear the world's noise...
the world's noise.

I'm humbled and injured
in need of a healing.
I'm bloody and beaten
in need, in need
of a healing.
But when I cry out for help
my words bounce off
a steel ceiling...
a steel ceiling.

STONES CRY OUT

VERSE 1
[C]If the instruments went silent.
[Am]And every voice was stilled.
[F]And where Your praise had sounded.
[G7]Was by a silence filled.
The Stones Cry Out.

VERSE 2
If the trumpets lost their breath.
And every harp string snapped.
And Your singers were stuck mute.
As silence round them wrapped.
The Stones Cry Out.

[D]If the great
[C]dream of [G]mankind
[D]could over-
[C]night become [G]true [Gsus][G]
[D]and we a-
[C]woke in peace and [G]harmony [Gsus][G]
[D]I'm afraid the first
[C]thing we'd [G]do ... [Gsus][G]

[Am]join our hands to raise a stair- [Em] case.
[Am]A tower climbing to the [Em]heavens
[Am]to celebrate the human [Em]race.
[Am][Dsus][D][Am][Dsus][Fmaj7][Am]

If the differences that divide us
were overnight all swept away.
We awoke one language and one country,
I'm afraid of how we'd start our day ...

CHORUS

If all the world's religions married
into a single point-of-view.
And peace and trust ruled the planet,
I'm afraid the first thing we'd do ...

WHAT MUST I DO

CHORUS

[Bm]Turn to Jesus or there's [Em]hell to [Gb]pay.

* Differs from recording. G changed to Em at end of each verse here.

What Must I Do?

I sang the nasally-sounding chorus through a cheerleader megaphone. The bizarre lead guitar part is backmasking, a technique from the psychedelic era when musicians (like the Beatles) recorded a voice or instrument, and then had it play backwards on the recording. The crosses bleed into each other with morphing software.
